As Strategic Account Specialist, Carisa brings years of leadership experience in non-profit communications to complex projects that make a difference in people’s lives. A great communicator, Carisa excels at bringing the right people to the table, keeping work running smoothly, and getting clients what they need when they need it.
She began her career in New York City in the 1980s, at the epicenter of the AIDS epidemic, working with Gay Men’s Health Crisis to bring attention to a rapidly-evolving public health tragedy. Transformed by the experience, she continued AIDS work at the federal and international levels – including in Botswana, where she led the volunteer recruitment effort for southern Africa’s first HIV vaccine trial.
Carisa also served as director of public affairs for GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders, where she played a key communication role in the nationwide drive toward marriage equality.
As a consultant, Carisa has helped clients win prison reform legislation, achieve voting rights victories, and navigate communication crises.
When she’s not being super-serious about the world, you can usually find her swinging on a hammock with a good book. She also loves thinking about, cooking, and eating great food.
