Use the power of peer influence through a web experience in a fresh, relevant, and youth-driven tone.
Working in partnership with Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), ARGUS developed and executed the social marketing component of a pilot campus-based substance-abuse intervention program. We produced the “Buzzcheck” Campaign, an interactive web-based video series, featuring short testimonials from actual teens who gained valuable insight from past experiences and decisions made regarding alcohol consumption.
Guided by insight from research, we determined that employing an effective course of engagement with this target, was to highlight the pressures involved in decision-making, rather than strictly focusing on the actual behavior. Each story captures a different perspective on decision-making and social consequences. In addition, the website includes a microsite, “Alternalife,” providing interactive opportunities to explore positive modeling around social pressure. Included are resources and links to other appropriate websites.
To generate interest and drive regular traffic to the website, the website launch was preceded by an on-the-ground guerilla marketing campaign.
